It can be hard this time of year for the human psyche. Sure, we may have a few brightly colored leaves, but ultimately, the plants have lost their last bloom and we have to say goodbye to the flowers until the spring. Or do we? Thank goodness for fashion!

If you’ve been paying attention to the fall fashion trends, then you might have noticed colorful boots embroidered and printed with floral patterns. Now, we must be honest, at first sight, we weren’t sure we could really step into this trend. In fact, we may have called it ugly. But, just like a song on the radio that you don’t like at first, but then at the 100th listen you’re singing along at the top of your lungs, that’s sort of our progression with this trend- it really grew on us!

And hey, at the very least, we thought we’d provide some bright eye candy and ideas for your little tootsies!

2017 Fall Boot Trends

Farfetch – Aquazzura Kaia Embroidered Boots -$1200.00

Yes, these Aquazzura boots are a little load, maybe even Patriotic. (Those two don’t necessarilly go hand-in-hand.) But, we dig the multi-colored, multi-textured style. A soft print sets the backdrop for a lovely embossed pattern. The hip shoe designer finishes with punches of cobalt blue and bright red. Austin Powers would be proud! Although, he might be horrified by the price. They might not be one million dollars, but $1200.00 is still pretty high!

DSW – Women’s Vail Bootie Black/Multicolor $69.99

Here’s a pair that brings the price way back to the acceptable range. However, visually they are a little harsh, taking the trend to heart. Thick embroidery reminds us of maybe a little too much of great grandma’s satchel. But, then we start to imagine them with black stretch leather leggings, a red silk tank, and a loose black blazer with the sleeves rolled up and all of a sudden we’re marching to a different tune.

Saks – Alexandre Birman, Regina Embroidered Velvet Booties $720

Hello pretty, pretty boots! Soft and subtle, Alexandre Birman puts a warm feeling in our hearts with these gorgeous booties. Lush velvet layered over velvet in a creamy rose color are just dreamy! At $720.00 a pair, some of us might have to keep on dreaming, or saving. 😉

Zara – Embroidered Hight Heel Ankle Boot – $55.90

We really dig these! And at a little more than half a c-note, we think they are not only chic but also a bargain! The boot stays on trend, but without being too loud. Way to go, Zara, you’ve done it again!

Nine West –  Savitra Pointy Toe Floral Jacquard Bootie – $99.99

Yes, these might look like the fabric from a couch out of 1971. But, they really do hit all of the trend points. When looking at them alone, they can be sort of overwhelming in all of their pattern and embroidery glory. However, once again, we find stepping back and looking at the boots as part of a bigger picture helps to find them a home in our closet. A rich denim jean and soft pale or gray lavender cowl neck sweater make these boots work. We might actually like them…

Saks – Rebecca Minkoff Bryce Embroidered Suede Block Heel Booties – $295

Rebecca Minkoff comes in at the mid-price range and also mid-trend. Not too loud, and just soft enough, these suede booties look comfy and wearable.

The Clutcher – Jeffrey Campbell Black Floral Boots– $196

Simple, elegant, and reasonably priced. We adore these Jeffrey Campbell boots. They are like a stroll through a forbidden garden in the moonlight. Pretty poppies and perhaps a zinnia decorate the front, while a bird flies across the top. We might consider putting these babies in a curio cabinet because they are a work of art. 😉

Lord & Taylor – Sam Edelman Taye Textile Boots -$160.00

Here, Sam Edelman seems to have taken a swatch from a geisha’s robe. And you know what? It works. They especially work with a thick block heel and rounded toe. These babies not only hit the mark but also look comfy!

Shopbop – Rag & Bone Drea Booties – $575.00

We’ve decided to end with our favorite and the one that really got us into the trend. These Rag & Bone booties are delicate in every way. Softly painted artwork adorns a canvas of very fine light grey suede. With the neutral palate, these would go with just about anything. Perhaps we should put them on our Christmas List. 😉
